Golf and Sporting Activities
Scotland is internationally renowned as the ‘Home of Golf’ and is the birthplace of The Open, where it all began at Prestwick in 1860.
We have over 550 golf courses, with more courses per head of population in Scotland than anywhere else in the world! Choose from the ‘Big 3’ world famous courses like Prestwick, Royal Troon and Turnberry (the latter playing host to the Open Championship between 10 – 17th July 2016) or opt instead to play some of the smaller public courses in Ayrshire.
Whatever your level and course preference, there’s a course here to suit you and nowhere better to enjoy a game than on some of the finest courses in the world. For full and comprehensive information on all golf courses in Ayrshire and throughout Scotland, go to www.visitscotland.com/see-do/activities/golf
